Single Wall Paper Cup
Most economical option. Ideal for cold drinks (iced coffee, iced tea) and hot drinks with an added sleeve. Large print area with good color output. Choose this if budget is your top priority and you do not mind adding sleeves for hot drinks.
Budget-FriendlyDouble Wall Paper Cup
Premium and functional. Air gap between layers provides natural insulation — customers can hold the cup without burning their hands. No sleeve needed. More premium appearance. Higher per-unit cost, but total cost can be comparable to single wall + sleeve.
Best for Hot DrinksPET Cup (Clear Plastic)
High transparency showcases drink colors and layers — perfect for juices, smoothies, bubble tea, and layered iced lattes. Cold drinks only (not heat-resistant). Most competitive per-unit price in the cold cup category.
Best for Cold DrinksPP Cup (Polypropylene)
The most versatile — handles both hot AND cold, even microwave-safe. Less transparent than PET (slightly hazy) but far more flexible in use. Great choice for restaurants and caterers serving various temperatures.

File Requirements
- Format: AI (Adobe Illustrator) or vector PDF is most ideal. High-resolution PSD/TIFF also accepted.
- Resolution: Minimum 300 DPI for raster elements. 400 DPI is better for sharp print results.
- Color Mode: CMYK (NOT RGB). RGB will be converted and colors can shift significantly, especially bright greens and blues.
- Bleed Area: Add 3mm bleed on each side. Elements reaching cup edges must extend beyond the cut line.
- Safe Zone: Keep text and important elements at least 3mm from the cut line. On the cup seam line area, avoid placing critical elements.
Common Artwork Mistakes That Delay Production
RGB colors instead of CMYK
Colors shift during conversion — neon green and electric blue are most affected. Red and yellow are relatively stable.
Logo in low-resolution JPG/PNG
Logo appears blurry/pixelated when printed. Always use the original vector file from your designer.
Text too small (below 6pt)
Text becomes unreadable when printed on the curved cup surface. Minimum 7-8pt for readability.
Fonts not included
Fonts get auto-substituted by the system, changing the design appearance. Convert text to outlines or include font files.
Design does not account for the seam area
Logo or important text gets cut at the cup seam. Request a cup template from your supplier before designing.
Request Samples and Proofs
The proofing stage is your last chance to catch issues before mass production begins. Do not skip this step to save time — the cost of reprinting far exceeds the time spent on proofing.
Digital Proof
Digital mockup showing how the design will look on the cup. Useful for checking layout, logo position, and proportions. But screen colors are NOT accurate — monitor display differs from printed output.

Confirm Order and Production
Once you approve the proof, here is what happens behind the scenes. Understanding this process helps you plan timelines and manage expectations.
Print Plate Making (3-5 days)
Print plates are made based on the approved final design. Each color requires a separate plate. This plate is the "mold" that transfers ink to the cup material. High-quality flexo plates can last 500,000-1,000,000 impressions.
Printing & Forming (7-14 days)
Material is printed first (paper/plastic sheets), then formed into cup shapes. Production time depends on volume — 10,000 pcs can finish in 7 days, while 100,000+ pcs needs 14 days or more. QC is conducted at every stage: color checking, thickness, and dimensions.
QC & Packaging (1-2 days)
Final inspection before packaging: random sampling for print quality, sizing, leak test, and stacking test. Cups are packed in sleeves (typically 50 pcs/sleeve) then placed in cartons. Each carton is labeled with product info, quantity, and production date.
Delivery and Receiving Inspection
When goods arrive, take time to inspect them. Reporting issues early makes the claims process much easier.

Compare random cups from different cartons with the approved proof. Check sharpness, color, and alignment.
Cup Dimensions
Measure top diameter, height, and volume. Ensure the lids you have are compatible with the received cups.
Packaging Integrity
Check cartons for dents or moisture. Cups compressed in damaged cartons may be deformed.
Quantity Verification
Count cartons and cross-check with the delivery note. Sample several cartons to verify contents per carton.
Function Test
Fill several cups with hot/cold water for 30 minutes. Check for leaks, deformation, and coating quality.
Important: Report discrepancies within 48 hours of receiving goods. Photo documentation greatly helps the claims process. SEAL Indonesia has a replacement policy for verified production defects.
Common Mistakes First-Time Buyers Make

Misunderstanding Oz Sizing
12oz from one manufacturer can differ from 12oz at another. The "oz" volume refers to liquid capacity, not physical dimensions. Always request dimension specs (top diameter, bottom diameter, height) in millimeters, not just oz.
Not Checking Lid Compatibility
Lids from supplier A may not fit cups from supplier B, even if both are "12oz." Cup rim diameter can vary by 1-2mm, enough to make lids loose or too tight. Always order cups and lids from the same source.
Artwork in RGB Color Mode
This is the most common mistake. Computer screens use RGB, printing machines use CMYK. Vibrant colors like neon green, electric blue, and hot pink will look very different after conversion. Always design in CMYK from the start.
Last-Minute Design Changes
Any design change after plates are made means new plate costs. Changes after production starts can mean discarding the entire batch. Finalize your design BEFORE approving the proof — after approval, consider the design locked.
Not Accounting for Storage Space
50,000 12oz paper cups need approximately 4 cubic meters of space. If you order 100,000 for the best price but only have a small warehouse, additional storage rental could eliminate your volume savings.

Frequently Asked Questions About Custom Cup Ordering
1 How long does it take from inquiry to receiving the cups?
For first orders, the total estimated time is 3-4 weeks: consultation and design finalization (3-7 days), plate making and proof approval (3-5 days), production (7-14 days depending on volume), and delivery (1-3 days). Repeat orders are usually faster (2-3 weeks) since plates already exist and designs are pre-approved.
2 Can I place an order without a design file?
Yes! SEAL Indonesia provides design services. Just prepare your logo (vector format if available), brand color preferences, and design references you like. Our design team will create mockups for your approval. Basic design services are usually included in custom orders, while complex designs may incur additional fees.
3 What if the print color does not match my expectations?
This is why the proofing process matters. Digital proofs give a general color impression, but physical proofs/print samples are the accurate reference. Once you approve the physical proof, that becomes the color standard for production. If production results deviate significantly from the approved proof, you have the right to file a claim. For critical colors, use Pantone color references.
4 Can I order multiple different designs in one order?
Yes, but each design requires separate print plates (plate cost per design). MOQ also applies per design. For example, MOQ of 10,000 pcs per design — so 3 designs means minimum 30,000 pcs total. A more cost-effective strategy: create one versatile design usable across products, or use a main design + color variations (which can share partial plates).
5 What file formats are accepted for artwork?
Ideal formats: AI (Adobe Illustrator) or vector-based PDF. We also accept high-resolution PSD or TIFF (minimum 300 DPI, preferably 400 DPI). JPG and PNG are acceptable for photo elements but NOT for logos or text. All files must be in CMYK color mode (not RGB). If you only have JPG/PNG files, our design team can help convert to vector (additional fees may apply).
6 Are lids included in the cup price?
Usually not — cups and lids are priced separately. Always make sure to ask for both cup AND lid prices when requesting quotations. Also ask about lid compatibility: not all lids fit all cups. SEAL Indonesia guarantees lid compatibility with cups we produce, and we can recommend the right lid type for your needs (flat, dome, sip-through, etc.).
7 What is the process for repeat orders?
Repeat orders are much simpler and faster. Print plates already exist (stored by us), designs are pre-approved, and specifications are on file. Simply confirm quantity and delivery schedule. Production time is usually 1-2 weeks faster than first orders. For customers with regular schedules, we can even start proactive production to ensure your stock is always available.
